Why Envato is retiring Empowerkit, and what it means for customers

What was Empowerkit?

If you’ve used Empowerkit to build and manage your website, you know what made it valuable. Empowerkit was designed to make getting online simpler, especially for franchisees and small business owners who need a professional website without becoming web experts.

It offered an all-in-one platform for creating, managing, and maintaining a business website, with tools and workflows built to keep things consistent across locations while remaining easy to use day to day. For many customers, Empowerkit became a dependable foundation for their online presence.

Over time, however, the digital landscape has changed, and so has Envato.

Why is Empowerkit being retired?

Empowerkit was created to solve a specific problem at a specific time. While that mission still matters, the way Envato supports customers today has evolved significantly.

As expectations around performance, security, integrations, and flexibility continue to rise, maintaining Empowerkit as a standalone platform no longer aligns with Envato’s long-term strategy. 

Rather than spreading resources across platforms that are no longer evolving in the same direction, we’ve made the difficult decision to sunset Empowerkit so we can focus our energy where it delivers the greatest long-term value.
