I fixed 100 videos in 24 hours. That’s the name of Ayush Vishwakarma’s latest YouTube upload.
“When I was four or five, I was completely immersed in the story. I wasn’t thinking about editing at all. But around eleven or twelve years old, I started asking different questions.
“How did they make this? How does this scene work? Why are there so many cuts here?
“I’d pause DVDs and study individual shots. I was just constantly thinking about what I was seeing. I started watching editing breakdowns, filmmaking videos, and screenwriting content. That’s when I began understanding how scenes are built and how editors actually think.
“One thing I realized was that if you want to understand editing properly, you also have to understand directing and screenwriting. I became fascinated by the process.”

I can’t physically touch an edit inside the computer. All I have is a mouse. Working on paper makes the edit feel real. I can move ideas around, rearrange sections, and experiment in a much more tactile way.
I still do that all the time.
I need to be the coolest person I know.
