Facebook launched on February 4th 2004, and it has quickly made its way up to become the second most popular website in the world, based on Alexa data. With well over a billion monthly active users behind them, it’s fairly safe to assume Facebook is here to stay. The team behind Facebook has pushed out some really cool ways in which you can customize your profile, and one of the biggest of these is the cover photo that takes center stage when you launch a profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the ability to add your own cover photos on your Facebook profile<\/a>, a lot of creative and talented folks started to use this space in interesting ways. With so many users on Facebook, marketers quickly realized the importance of having a brand presence on this social network (pun intended), and started pushing out some really cool creatives as their cover photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a Facebook user, I have come across these over time, and some of them have left a lasting impression on me. So today I will attempt to run you through some creative cover photos I’ve seen over the years. If I missed out on some cool ones, please do let me know via the comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Antonio Fadda<\/a> This is one of my favorites, and gets listed in almost every list of cool Facebook cover pics. Here a guy holds out his passport, and the profile pic is a shot of what it looks like on the passport. It’s one of those things I want to try, and I will get to it one of these days. Just a quick tip if you do want to try it: Make sure no sensitive information is showing up on the picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creative Brand Cover Photos for Facebook<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Some brands use the cover photos on Facebook to launch new product or services or to promote their brand, here are some of the inspiring ones I have seen over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Create Your Own Facebook Cover Photos Like a Boss<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I am not a creative genius, and I could only hope against hope to have a profile pic as cool as some of these. But all that changed once I came across the Facebook Timeline Covers<\/a> category on Envato Elements and Facebook Timeline Images<\/a> on GraphicRiver. Have a look at how I roll on Facebook<\/a> these days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These PSD templates are easy to work with. If you or one of your mates know your way around Photoshop, then you can customize them in no time.
